If you feel like escaping the city for some stunning views of typical Dutch scenery, fantastic food and reasonable prices, Paviljoen Het Twiske comes highly recommended.
If you want to escape from the bussle of the city, or need a place in the summer to cool down, then head out of town about 4 kilometres to the north to Paviljoen 't Twiske. It's located in a spectacular setting on the edge of a lake in the Twiske nature reserve. During the day it's got its own beach and wonderful terrace and as the sun goes down, strings of fairy lights come on and the restaurant is transformed into a magical location. The fixed 3 course menu is very reasonably price at around Euro 27 and the food is of an excellent standard, mixing typical Dutch with Mediterranean flavours. In 2010 it won the best of restaurant week – an annual culinary event in Amsterdam. Because people have to make that little bit more of an effort to get there, the price quality ratio is outstanding and the service is some of the best you'll find in Amsterdam.
